Let’s face it, you’re going to screw up at one point or another, so why not do the smart thing and bank your apology now?

For example: You’ve booked a man-date with the lads to watch the footy before realising that you’ve also already been booked to visit the in-laws that weekend. There’s no way you want to visit the in-laws, so if there’s enough time, have some of her favourite flowers sent to her workplace or bring some home and pop them in a vase. And if you’re going to send a message:

Hey Babe, I’ll be out with the guys this weekend. Hope these flowers make up for the fact that I won’t be visiting your parents instead – besides, your Dad’s a little weird. Mike out!

Correct way:

Hey there, just a little something for always being so awesome, hope you’re having a great day, cya when you get home. Love, Mike

Now when you need to broach the subject of the weekend, there’s more of a chance you’ll get through unscathed. For added effect, buy scented flowers such as Hyacinths or Freesias, and stand next to them as you present your case – how’s she going to say no when all she can smell is the beautiful scent of flowers that her wonderful man sent by surprise!

Warning: before you do this, it’s best to have given flowers, gifts or surprise dinners on other occasions for no reason at all! Otherwise, if you’re the kind of guy who never does this kind of thing, it’s more likely to raise suspicion, she’s gonna know somethings up and the plan might backfire!

All stereotypical joking aside, depending on how big the mistake is, flowers can be a great way to make an apology and it doesn’t need to be extravagant, even a small posy will go a long way if it’s a sincere gesture.
